This time removing the key caps is a less optional step, but thankfully is easy with most modern keyboards-just use a butter knife or similar thin, blunt object to pry off one and you may be able to do the rest by hand. If you've felt the need to remove your key caps, and they don't have any electronic parts feel free to give them a good rinse in water. If you have enough room between key caps you can repeat the same process using a cotton swab. Line the cloth up with the gap between your keys and rub it through them a few times, always moving in the same direction. Take a lint free cloth and dip it into some isopropyl alcohol, nail polish remover, or similar. If your keyboard has taken more of a beating during use or even seen a bit of liquid damage over that time, you'll need to get a more in depth and invasive with your cleaning. This is another time when removing the keys will make the job much eaiser, if you can. Most gaming keyboards now days support removable keycaps, but it's still a good idea to check before you remove any keys for that ultra deep clean. Alternatively, use a vacuum cleaner with the brush head attached.įor the worst offenders, you may even need to take the keys off to really get in all the nooks and crannies. Just make sure to spray in a consistent direction so that you aren't just moving the dirt around. If you want to really give between those keys a thorough cleaning, a blast from a can of compressed air can do wonders. Turn the keyboard upside down and give it a good shake. If your keyboard is wired, unplug it, but otherwise grab your keyboard and take it somewhere you don't mind getting dirty, such as a room with a laminate floor, or even outside. That can be anything from dust to dog hairs but all of it can be removed fairly easily. The most common detritus that you're likely to find hiding between the various keys of your keyboard is general dirt. Keycap puller - You can just use a knife, but these are cheap and make the job much easier. 
Isopropyl alcohol - If you're wanting to remove stains, then you're going to want some of this to do it safely. Keep it in a safe dust free space for best results. A lint free cloth - Cotton is often the best here. Compressed Air - A can of compressed air will last you longer than you think, and is great for quick controlled bursts that can make short work of hair, dust, and crums. Cotton tips - You can buy a box of eighty million of these at your convenient local store.
